Computer Applications Syllabus
This course is designed to introduce students to a variety of computer programs that will be used during their educational and future professional career. Basic computer skills such as keyboarding and computer navigation will be covered. Students will learn the following: word processing document skills via Microsoft Word, spreadsheet design using Microsoft Excel, the use of database design, reports and queries through Microsoft Access and finally, how to build a slide show presentation utilizing Microsoft Power Point.
Course Objectives
- To teach the fundamentals of Microsoft Office 2003
- To expose students to practical examples of the computer as a useful tool
- To acquaint students with the proper procedures to create documents, workbooks, databases, and presentations suitable for course work, professional purposes, and personal use
- To develop an exercise-oriented approach that allows students to learn by example
- To encourage independent study
- To integrate education about work ethics and job seeking preparation
